Kerstin Baker-Ash


Kerstin Baker-Ash is the senior search analyst at I Spy SearchMarketing, the U.K.'s leading independent search engine marketingagency. Founded in 2005 and built on the philosophy of delivering anintegrated paid and natural service solution, I Spy provides clients onboth sides of the Atlantic coordinated and holistic campaign managementstrategies.

Kerstin is an outspoken advocate for the communal and global developmentof SEM best practices; she is a member of SEMPO, a founding agencymember of the Institute of Practitioners in the advertising search paneland has spoken at Search Engine Strategies. Prior to joining I Spy,Kerstin managed multi-market SEM campaigns in-house in the travelindustry developing unique initiatives to maximize ROI and holisticallyalign messaging across both online and offline offerings.

A Toronto native, Kerstin attended Mount Allison University in NewBrunswick and Eberhard-Karls Universität Tübingen in Germany andcurrently lives in London, U.K.

Michael Bonfils


Michael Bonfils is the Founder and Managing Director of SEM International (SEMI), a global search engine marketing network. Since 1996, Michael was one of the early pioneers in search engine optimization and created Century 21's first SEO program, from '98 to '99 he co-founded a real estate vertical search engine and was formerly in charge of Search Engine Strategy at in 2000-01.

By late 2001, he started an online advertising agency which eventually was sold to his partners in early 2004. Part of the settlement allowed him to retain the Hong Kong based Search Engine Marketing office which was held under SEMI's parent company, Hyper Interactive Corp.

Recognizing the need for US based agencies to properly provide SEM services for their clients in mainland China, Michael moved the office to Shanghai and tripled the revenue and client base of his Fortune 500 clientele. This event sparked a global need for his services in localized search marketing.

Today, SEMI is one of the leading global search engine marketing networks, covering Asia, Europe and the Middle East and Latin America.

Martin Bowling


Martin Bowling has worked in the Internet Marketing & Development space since 1999. The first part of his career was helping small West Virginia based business increase their visibility on the internet. Applying his talents in this area eventually landed him contracts with Toyota, Bayer Crop Science, The Air National Guard, West Virginia Department of Health & Human Services, West Virginia State Treasurer's Office & Marie Calendar Foods.

Martin has recently started a small boutique Internet Marketing firm Vec3 based in Charleston, WV. With his primary focus on organic seo, social media & online reputation management. Martin believes that utilizing a multi discpline strategy is the only way to go in today's every changing world, he never locks his clients into a one track strategy.

Martin Byrne


Martin has spent the last 15 years of his career building online business for a wide variety of Canadian and international organizations.Initially Martin worked for several Canadian Internet presence agencies building websites for TD Bank, BMW Canada, Bank of New York, Deutchbank and more. Martin eventually moved from building online businesses to managing them as Director of The National Post's online news business, Director of media sales operations for Sympatico/MSN Canada and most recently taking on the role as National Director for Yahoo! Canada's Search Marketing operations.

Martin also holds an executive MBA from the Rotman School of Business.

Laura Callow


Laura has been involved in web marketing since 1998. Having worked in the UK, South Africa and Canada, Laura's clients through her various employers have included Microsoft Partners, Rolex, Mercedes Benz, Hyatt hotels, Moen and Pampers and numerous other large and small companies across the globe.

Laura has spoken extensively at Business Link seminars and has focused her attention not only on golden brands, but on the SEM education of SMEs. Research, SEO gap analysis, paid search and analytical interpretation of results are part of what Laura does on a day to day basis with her current employer, Epiar. Christine Churchill

Jane Copland


Joining the SEOmoz team in September 2006, Jane Copland handles a large portion of the company's social media tasks. She regularly contributes to the SEOmoz blog and has written to in-depth guides on social media marketing practices and issues. She has spoken at two SMX conferences: SMX London in 2007 and SMX Sydney in 2008.

A graduate of Washington State University, Jane is from Wellington, New Zealand and has been living in the United States since 2002.

Damian Finlay


As Managing Director of Epiar, Damian is responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the fast growing concern. Coordinating SEM deliverables with design and usability across two companies has become Damian's forte in the last three years.

Damian's skills prior to his taking on a senior managerial role include a wide array of functions including search engine marketing and optimization, site traffic building, strategic marketing research & analysis, and SEO copywriting . Todd Friesen


Todd Friesen is considered by many to be an SEO pioneer. He entered the SEO world in 1998 and has since worked with top-name clients like Sharper Image, Nike, Neiman Marcus and Accor Hotels North America on natural search optimization. He is an expert in search engine marketing, a former administrator at, and a former moderator for Search Engine Watch Forums. Jordan Kasteler

Jordan Kasteler a.k.a. UtahSEOPro has been avidly involved in organic SEO since 2001. He is also a fore-runner in embracing social media and is a top user on He has worked on SMB sites for a dedicated SEO firm, but is now deeply immersed in the world of in-house enterprise-level SEO.

While Jordan’s experience lends itself to the technical end of SEO with all server-side or client-side coding aspects of SEO, he is currently focused on social media marketing. Bill Slawski


Bill Slawski has a jurisdoctor degree in law and BA in English. He is also one of the founders and administrators of Cre8asite Forums, which focuses upon usability, web design, and marketing. He is a correspondent for Search Engine Land on search related patents and research, and blogs about those issues at his blog, SEO by the Sea.

Bill has been involved in web promotion and design since 1996 when he was employed by the Superior Court of the State of Delaware. Initially working for the Court as an intern for the staff attorney, his interest in technology overcame his interest in the law, and he started working to bring new technologies to the Court.
